Illegal Chinese Migrants from Myanmar Arrested in Ayutthaya

AYUTTHAYA, Thailand – Police have arrested five Chinese men who illegally entered Thailand from Myanmar via Tak province. The arrests took place on Wednesday in Bang Pa-in district, Ayutthaya, as officers intercepted two pickup trucks transporting the migrants along Highway 32.

Highway Police Commander Pol Maj Gen Kongkrit Lertsitthikul confirmed the arrests, stating that the migrants had crossed into Thailand through a natural border crossing in Mae Sot district, Tak province, before attempting to reach Bangkok in search of jobs.

One of the Thai drivers, 31-year-old Jittikorn Saejang, admitted that he had been hired for 6,500 baht to transport the group from Tak to Bangkok, fully aware that they were illegal migrants.

The five Chinese men communicated with police through a translator, confirming their journey and intent to find employment in the capital. Authorities are now investigating potential human trafficking links and will proceed with legal action against both the migrants and those involved in their transportation.
