Andy Murray has been included in the French Open entry list, but Emma Raducanu’s place in the draw remains uncertain as she sits as the fifth alternate.
Murray, a three-time Grand Slam champion, suffered ankle ligament damage at the Miami Open last month. He has only competed once at Roland Garros since his hip resurfacing surgery in 2019, exiting in the first round in 2020.
On the other hand, Raducanu, the 2021 US Open champion, has a protected ranking of 103 after missing the last eight months of 2023. If she doesn’t secure a spot due to withdrawals, she will either need a wildcard or must advance through qualifying rounds.
The French Open is set to begin on May 26th, with Rafael Nadal, a 14-time champion, among those benefiting from a protected ranking. The Spaniard returned to action this week after a hiatus since January and aims to compete in what he has hinted might be his final year before retirement.
Raducanu, 21, has played 12 matches this year, including a crucial win that helped Great Britain advance to the Billie Jean King Cup Finals. Meanwhile, fellow Brits Katie Boulter, Harriet Dart, and Jodie Burrage have secured direct entry, although Burrage’s participation is in doubt following recent wrist surgery.
Men’s players Cameron Norrie, Dan Evans, and Jack Draper have also been listed for the tournament.
