Nottingham Forest took a significant step towards securing their Premier League survival with a crucial victory over already-relegated Sheffield United, thanks to a brace from Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Ben Brereton Diaz opened the scoring for Sheffield United with a penalty at Bramall Lane. However, Hudson-Odoi equalized for Forest with a stunning curling effort in the first half.
Ryan Yates then put Forest ahead early in the second half with a powerful strike, before Hudson-Odoi sealed the win with another impressive goal, marking the 100th Premier League goal conceded by Sheffield United this season.
Despite a late red card for Anel Ahmedhodzic, Forest held on for the win, moving three points clear of the relegation zone with just two games remaining.
Forest rode their luck at times, with Sheffield United dominating the first half and creating several scoring opportunities. However, Forest’s resilience and clinical finishing proved decisive in securing the vital three points.
The win puts Forest’s fate in their own hands ahead of their remaining fixtures, with safety within reach if they can secure four points from their last two games. Meanwhile, Sheffield United’s disappointing season continues, as they share an unwanted record for goals conceded in a Premier League season.
