A young Brazilian woman, recently engaged, was among the three fatalities of a devastating fire at a six-story hotel near Khao San Road on the night of December 29. The woman, who had just accepted a marriage proposal from her boyfriend last week, tragically perished in the blaze.

The other two victims were foreign men whose names and nationalities remain unconfirmed. One was pronounced dead at Samitivej Hospital Chinatown, and the other succumbed to injuries at Vijara Hospital.

The fire erupted in Room 511 on the fifth floor at approximately 9:21 PM. The room was completely destroyed, complicating efforts to determine the cause of the blaze. Thai Rath and PPTVHD36 reported that authorities worked tirelessly to evacuate and assist the 75 guests trapped in the hotel.

Investigation and Response

Bangkok authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire, with Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt ordering the hotel closed for safety inspections. The tragedy has raised concerns about fire safety measures in tourist accommodations, particularly in high-occupancy areas.

This incident has cast a shadow over what was meant to be a festive holiday season, with grieving families awaiting further updates from officials.
