Ex-Senator’s Son Arrested in Online Gambling Scandal

Ex-Senator’s Son Arrested in Online Gambling Scandal

During the raid, police seized two desktop computers, one laptop, 14 mobile phones, 21 bank passbooks, 53 ATM cards, and four luxury cars — a Ferrari 926 GTS, an Aston Martin, a Lexus, and a Subaru — with a total value exceeding 400 million baht.

The investigation began when authorities identified an online gambling site that utilized an automatic deposit-withdrawal system, processing payments through bank accounts and the AskMePay system. Players would scan QR codes from VPay and Heng Online 888 Company or Heng Pay Company.

Further investigation revealed that payments made via QR codes were transferred to Heng Pay Co’s account and then funneled into the gambling site’s mule accounts via AskMePay, bypassing banks’ facial recognition protocols. The site was found to have a monthly turnover of approximately 5 billion baht.

Investigators determined that the website had been active for about four years, while the payment system had been in use for around eight months. Pol Maj Gen Athip stated that Mr. Narote was the owner of the payment systems for the gambling site and the director of Heng Pay Co. Following the accumulation of evidence, police obtained arrest warrants for 14 suspects.
