The Prime Minister, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, has expressed concern over the welfare and safety of the general public and officials following several bombings in the southern provinces of Phatthalung and Satun over the weekend.
There were no reports of any casualties and the Prime Minister has advised public members not to panic, as the authorities are able to control the situation and continue to monitor the movements of insurgent groups.
Gen. Prayut has instructed security units to be on the alert for any possible insurgency, ensure peace and order, and rapidly track down the perpetrators.
An investigation is underway to establish the motives for the bombings. There is a possibility that the perpetrators might have wanted to cause unrest before the general election, scheduled to be held on March 24.
