Crack Down on Codeine-Laced Syrup

Over 865 unlawful syrup items worth 1 million baht were suspected of containing forbidden ingredients during the operation.
The FDA received a complaint on cough syrups suspected of having codeine that teens mixed with Coke for recreational drug use. The investigation team searched 6 Bangkok locations with court approval after gathering evidence on social media and doing a field inspection.
The disputed property’s cough syrups were tested for illegal drugs, including Codeine.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Anan described the practice of teens mixing cough syrups and medicines with illegal drugs “Lean”. Drug addiction and mental and physical harm would result from illegal ingredients and use.

CPPD officers promised to quickly apprehend and prosecute wrongdoers.
