Conor McGregor has officially confirmed his return to the octagon in 2025 and expressed his goal of competing in two fights next year.
The former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion was present at Wembley Stadium for the boxing match between Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua, where he spoke to the media about his fighting aspirations. McGregor’s anticipated fight with Michael Chandler, initially planned for June, was postponed due to a broken toe sustained during training.
Recently, Chandler announced his upcoming match against Charles Oliveira in November, which many interpreted as an indication that fans would not see McGregor in action this year. However, speculation is mounting that 2025 will mark McGregor’s return to professional fighting.
UFC President Dana White had hinted at a possible McGregor bout in Dublin while attending an event in the capital, stating, “We’ll be back here soon.” When asked whether that meant 2025, White responded, “Maybe, it’s possible.” He further commented on McGregor’s return, suggesting that the timeline for a comeback and his next opponent will depend on McGregor’s readiness.
During an interview with DAZN at Wembley, McGregor confirmed, “It will be 2025. My job is to stay in shape for whenever it happens.” He added, “I must get two fights in 2025. It’s the promised land. I’d like my next opponent to be Chandler, but whoever it is, let’s see.”
Fans reacted on social media to McGregor’s enthusiastic behavior ringside, where he was seen cheering and celebrating wildly, especially when Dubois knocked Joshua down.
As anticipation grows for McGregor’s upcoming return, the MMA world remains eager to see how his comeback unfolds in the new year.
