CCTV to the rescue of “red-faced” Chinese tour guide

CCTV to the rescue of “red-faced” Chinese tour guide

At around 1:30am on august 29th, police were called after a Chinese tour guide had his bag stolen from a convenience store in Pattaya.

The incident occurred at a small convenience store just outside the Nova Platinum Hotel in Pratumnak.

The victim, Mr. Chih Shiang, aged 41 years old, had popped out of his hotel after feeling hungry. He had entered the store and was looking to buy some mama noodles. After picking his flavour and filling it up with hot water, he proceeded to the cashier desk, payed and left the shop.

Little did he know that he had left his bag on the counter where he filled his noodle cup with hot water.

Staff at the store estimate it was between 3-5 minutes before the Chinese  Tour Guide realised and returned to collect his bag. Unfortunately for him, however, it was gone.

Fortunately the store has active CCTV and was able to catch a “dark skinned” foreign woman, wearing a green dress, red-handed.

The victim told police that the bad contained his mobile phone, credit cards, ID documents, and cash money estimated to be around 50,000 THB in both Thai and Chinese currencies.

Due to the clear images on the CCTV cameras police believe that it will not take them long to locate and track down the thief and hopefully be able to return Mr. Shiang’s belongings to him.
