Concerns that the incoming administration may re-criminalize the drug have prompted the Ministry of Public Health to defend its use and therapeutic advantages.
Anutin Charnvirakul, the outgoing public health minister, stated that he anticipates the next health minister would research the plant’s therapeutic uses after taking office.
Regarding the likelihood that the new administration will outlaw cannabis use, Minister Anutin urged those who support it to carefully consider the drug’s medical advantages as well as any additional regulations that might be put in place to limit its use for recreational purposes.
The minister went on to say that he thinks his successor should look at cannabis primarily from a medical standpoint, stressing that he only supported its use for medical reasons, which eventually increases the plant’s economic value.
During the introduction of the Thailand Herbal Expo, which will take place the next week to promote new knowledge and innovations connected to herbs and conventional medicine, Minister Anutin’s remarks were heard. The event will take held at the IMPACT Muang Thong Thani exposition complex in Nonthaburi from June 28 to July 2.
