Late Wednesday night, police in Nakhon Pathom province apprehended four suspects and seized the most narcotics ever seized in a single operation in Thailand.
Deputy national police commander Pol Gen Torsak Sukwimol announced on Thursday that police conducted a raid at 20/15 Soi Lamphaya-Bosco 2 Road in the Muang district of Nakhon Pathom at 11:30 p.m. as part of their anti-drug operation.
Four individuals were apprehended during the operation.
Apichart Ekchin, 38, Chalit Khiaophrai, 39, and his siblings Charan Khiaophrai, 38, and Watchara Khiaophrai, 36, were identified as the suspects apprehended.
15 million methamphetamine pills, 443 heroine bars, 420 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, and a quantity of “happy water” and “five-five” were among the substances seized.
According to Pol Gen Torsak, this was the largest narcotic seizure in the country, with an estimated street value of 300 million baht.
He stated that detectives spent approximately two years tracing down this gang of suspects after the arrest of one of its members.
Torsak’s appointment as the new national police director is sanctioned.
Pol Gen Samran Nuanma, assistant national police director, stated that after the arrest of Warawut Inkhlai, 36, the gang relocated its drug operation to the house in Nakhon Pathom. He added that the narcotics were stored there prior to distribution to small-scale traffickers.
Mr. Warawut was allegedly detained for illegal firearm possession and money laundering related to illegal drugs.
According to Pol Gen Samran, the gang smuggled drugs from nations bordering Thailand’s northern region.
