In the early hours of yesterday, a Bangkok taxi driver reported to Pattaya City Police that he had received threats from an unnamed person whom he believed to be a Pattaya taxi driver. Chanai Waisuwan was caught in a traffic jam on Pattaya Beach Road when he was returning to Bangkok after dropping off a guest at a nearby hotel.
The unnamed man opened the car door while the 46-year-old Bangkok cab driver was traveling slowly in the dense traffic, the driver recalled. The man allegedly cursed at Chanai.

He then started banging on the taxi’s glass and continued to threaten Chanai. Chanai quickly took pictures and videos of the man to record the occurrence.
The Pattaya City Police immediately tracked down and detained the suspected criminal in response to Chanai’s report. The suspect justified his actions by stating Chanai’s taxi had been blocking the road and causing the traffic bottleneck at the Pattaya City Police Station.
He voiced his displeasure that Chanai decided to record the incident rather than move his taxi. In a moment of rage, the suspect acknowledged breaking the taxi’s window. He emphasized, nevertheless, that he had no desire to harm the cab driver physically.
Legal penalties
The police have not officially confirmed the suspect’s name or Chanai’s claim that he is a taxi driver in Pattaya. According to The Pattaya News, it is also unclear whether the man will face any legal action.
Colonel Puttharak Sornkamharn of the Pattaya City Police commented on the occurrence and noted that similar circumstances have happened frequently in the past.
Police Colonel Puttharak stated that these crimes damaged Pattaya’s standing as a premier, family-friendly vacation destination.
He brought out how taxis and buses frequently cause traffic jams by parking outside of approved spaces. He didn’t make any further inferences or comments about this particular issue, though.
Despite the sad incident, the parties involved and the Pattaya City Police are still dedicated to finding a solution. They are aware of the significance of protecting Pattaya’s reputation and its citizens and visitors.
We must address these problems right now if we want to keep them from happening again. We must make sure that Pattaya continues to be a friendly and safe city for all.
