As the people in the now deserted tourist areas of Thailand start to feel the pinch there is yet another report of an armed robbery at a gold shop.
This time the target was a department store in Laem Chabang, Sri Racha where an armed man terrified shop workers on Monday evening.
Waving a gun around he ran into the Golden 99 shop, leapt over the counter and grabbed gold to the estimated value of 250,000 baht.
CCTV footage revealed a masked and hooded man jumping the counter and police believe he must be local as the robber made his escape on foot.
This is the latest in a growing line of robberies committed against easy cash targets such as temples. traders and gold shops as the real effects of the government COVID panic starts to show
