Algerian man overstaying in Thailand dress up like a woman to evade the Immigration in Bangkok

An Algerian man who allegedly tried to disguise himself as a woman in order to elude Thai immigration police was detained in Bangkok for 251 days of overstaying his lawful visa.

Pertinent officers from the Bangkok Thai Immigration Office detained a 38-year-old Algerian man earlier this week at a Bueng Kum housing development. Before making the Algerian man into custody, police discovered that he was dressed as a woman.

The Algerian guy entered Thailand through Suvarnabhumi Airport in 2022, but because his visa had run out in October of the previous year, he had been there for at least 251 days longer than permitted. The Algerian man told the police that he frequently dressed as a woman to avoid being recognized and detained for overstaying.

He seemed worried about overstayers being detected using smart camera equipment in tourist locations. It was not immediately clear how Thai Immigration was able to recognize and apprehend the man despite the disguise.

Although Thai Immigration concealed the suspect’s name from the public, they did reveal that he would be deported and transported back to Algeria.
