Air Algerie orders A350 and A330NEOS

The national airline of Algeria has made a solid order for seven widebody aircraft from the world’s largest manufacturer, Airbus, in order to expand its commercial operations and support fleet expansion goals.

Five A330neos and two A350-1000s are part of Air Algérie’s order and delivery is scheduled to start in the second half of 2025. As a result, the airline can operate flights on various intra-African and transcontinental routes, fully utilizing the versatility of Airbus products.

A superb decision by Air Algérie

Many airlines have chosen the technologically cutting-edge A330 and A350 as their preferred aircraft. Air Algérie will experience operational savings by using these widebody jets, including a 25% reduction in fuel consumption per seat and increased flexibility provided by the distinctiveness of Airbus aircraft.

The aircraft also has the acclaimed Airspace cabin, which provides passengers with exceptional levels of comfort and a luxurious setting. The A350 will seat between 350 and 450 passengers, while the A330 is anticipated to seat between 280 and 320. The airline has not divulged the cabin arrangement that will be employed.

Eight A330-200s are among the 56 aircraft in the North African airline’s mixed fleet. The new order is a significant accomplishment that will solidify Airbus and Air Algérie’s established alliance. Vice President of Airbus for Africa and the Middle East said;

the newest model of aircraft

The two widebody Airbus aircraft that Air Algérie has ordered are the most recent model. Two strong Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines provide the A330neo family’s aircraft a 13,334 km nonstop range. The A330 family, which is the most successful widebody family, had 1,775 confirmed orders from 130 global customers by May 2023.

The world’s most cutting-edge and fuel-efficient aircraft family includes the A350. Its most recent Trent XWB engines from Rolls-Royce enable it to travel more than 16,000 kilometers without stopping. Airbus, which continues to rule the long-haul market, had 967 definite orders from 54 clients for the A350 as of May 2023.

Air Algérie is committing to decarbonization and minimizing the effects of air travel on the environment by replacing outdated aircraft with these cutting-edge planes. With the agreement, which comes after Lufthansa’s recent procurement of ten A350-1000s, it will join an exclusive group of airline operators.

More orders for aircraft

The Airbus agreement comes after a recent agreement between Air Algérie and Boeing for the delivery of eight 737 MAX aircraft starting in 2027. The carrier is preparing for growth to become one of the continent’s largest airlines now that African aviation has nearly fully recovered from the pandemic.

Also on the flag carrier’s wish list are ten narrow- and wide-body aircraft for dry lease. As the airline looks for potential lessors, the deadline for submissions was extended to this week. The fleet of Air Algérie is anticipated to nearly treble by 2030, expanding both its passenger service and cargo capacity through the belly hold.
