Earthquake watcher: An earthquake monitoring expert yesterday (Jan 2, 2018) urged the Thai public to keep monitoring reports about earthquakes after tremors were felt in the western province of Kanchanaburi last week, the Thai-language Daily News reported.
The 4.9 Richter scale quake was the latest in a series of tremors monitored by Mr Smith Thammasarote, who chairs the National Disaster Foundation.
Mr Smith last week visited two dams in Kanchanaburi and trained members of the public on how to stay safe when an earthquake strikes.
The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) last week installed earthquake-monitoring equipment at Si Nakarin and Vajiralongkorn dams.
