A Thai doctor, who said he had experience in a Nepali cave rescue, has offered to help save the 12 children and their football coach who have been trapped for days in a flooded cave in Chiang Rai.
Dr Thanasarn Narutisathaporn arrived at the Luang Cave in Tham Luang-Khun Nam Nang Non Forest Park on Thursday to present to Chiang Rai governor a plan for medical preparation if the rescue is completed.
Saying he needed to know their weight and height to calculate their fluid loss, Thanasarn said providing warm blood and saline water and warmed blankets would be important. Vitamin B1 nutrient must be provided intravenously, he said.
As they obviously had water, they might survive for between 20 to 60 days depending on their weight, with heavier people likely to survive longer,
