A 22-wheeled truck collided with 16 other vehicles on Kanchanaphisek Road (Bangkok’s southern ring road) in Phra Pradaeng district on Sunday evening.
Rescue workers were notified of the accident around 5 PM on the Bang Phli-Suksawat section of the outer ring road in Bang Yaphraek. The section was closed for about an hour while rescue teams transported the injured to nearby hospitals, and police worked to remove damaged vehicles to restore traffic flow.
The incident caused significant traffic congestion, with several kilometers of delays toward Pak Nam and Bang Na. The road was partially reopened by 6:30 PM.
Prasert Ketbung, 51, whose car was among those damaged, said that traffic had been slowing down when the large truck suddenly crashed into multiple vehicles, including cars, pickup trucks, and a gas truck.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
