A 14-year-old boy has been arrested after fatally shooting a 16-year-old boy, allegedly driven by jealousy over online conversations.
The incident occurred at the Nong Krathum intersection in Sa Bot district on Friday night, according to Pol Lt Col Chayan Seekiang from the Sa Bot police station.
Upon arriving at the scene, police found the victim, identified as Suphakit, lying in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was pronounced dead before reaching the hospital.
A friend of the victim reported that they were on their way to buy food, riding a motorbike, when they were ambushed by two individuals on another motorcycle. One of the attackers shot Suphakit, who was sitting on the back of the motorbike.
Police later apprehended the shooter, discovering that he was the driver of the other motorcycle, with his girlfriend as the passenger. The investigation revealed that the motive behind the shooting was jealousy, as the victim had frequently chatted online with the suspect’s girlfriend. Both the suspect and his girlfriend have been detained for further questioning.
