The government has warned businesses not to sell condoms intended for free distribution to the general public.
The complimentary condoms, given out as a part of a health promotion initiative, are being offered for sale online at a discount, according to Dr. Atthaporn Limpanyalert, the National Health Security Office’s deputy secretary-general (NHSO).
He asserted that since taxpayer money paid for the condoms, it is improper and illegal to sell them for a profit.
Even if the products are being sold at low costs, Dr. Atthaporn called on the people to refrain from supporting these dishonest merchants and sternly asked them to cease or face legal action.
According to him, Thai males who are over 13 can sign up on the Pao Tang app for a free weekly prescription of ten condoms each, and they can present the prescription at any drugstore or clinic that is affiliated with the NHSO.
According to him, those without smartphones can use their ID card to get free condoms from the closest medical centers.
One of the eight free preventative healthcare services offered to all Thais is the distribution of condoms. Pregnancy tests, birth control tablets, preventing iodine, iron, or folic acid deficiencies, and routine physical and mental health screenings are among the others.
