A group of marijuana enthusiasts said that they will observe June 9 as “Thai Cannabis Day” in front of the legislature. The ceremony honoring Thai Cannabis Day will be held in the Office of the Public Sector Development Commission which is located across from the Government House in Bangkok. According to Mr. Prasitchai Nuan, secretary general of the Thai Cannabis Network, who divulged this information to Thai media.
The purpose of the event, according to him, is to inform people about the real health advantages of cannabis, which have been widely misunderstood owing to political considerations. In order to benefit from a comparison research on alcohol, cigarettes, and marijuana presented at the event, the network also invited a representative from the coalition leaders Move Forward Party to attend.
According to Mr. Prasitchai, this will assist individuals in positions of authority in deciding which methods or legal frameworks should be utilized to regulate marijuana use in order to take advantage of its benefits while minimizing its drawbacks.
Mr. Prasitchai claims that his organization is adamantly opposed to the relisting of cannabis as a narcotic and requests that those who are advocating for this status to be restored make it clear why cannabis is more dangerous than alcohol or cigarettes and demonstrate scientifically how it is more harmful with the help of nations like Canada that have already legalized cannabis.
As they are certain that cannabis is both safer and healthier than alcohol in particular, Prasitchai and his friends assert that they are completely certain that these questions cannot be addressed. Prasitchai also demands an explanation from political leaders for the Move Forward coalition’s support for progressive alcohol and the growth of the Thai alcohol market while simultaneously advocating for the recriminalization and strict regulation of the cannabis business as a narcotic.
The decriminalization of marijuana in Thailand occurred on June 9 of last year. However, because to political controversy and divergent viewpoints on cannabis, complete regulations to regulate and legalize it have been delayed for more than a year. Cannabis activists have vowed to step up efforts and inform the public and legislators about cannabis and the advantages it offers for the economy and health because the future of the drug is still uncertain.
