In keeping with its policy of opportunistic A350 fleet growth, Lufthansa Group has signed a deal to purchase four additional A350-900s from Deucalion Aviation.
Later this year, the four aircraft will be delivered. However, despite the fact that the carrier gave no further details on the nature of the aircraft, the ch-aviation fleets ownership module reveals that the Dutch lessor only owns four A350-900s. The ex-LATAM Airlines Brasil planes, which are 2016-vintage (three) and 2019-vintage (one), have been parked in Victorville since 2020–2021. In the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak, LATAM Airlines Group decommissioned its entire A350 fleet as part of Chapter 11 reorganization.
According to earlier sources, Park Aerospace Holdings and South African Airways (SA, Johannesburg O.R. Tambo) both owned and operated two additional used A350-900 aircraft.
The German holding now has twenty-one A350-900s in service, four of which were previously operated by Philippine Airlines (PR, Manila Ninoy Aquino International). Five of the 33 additional jets it has a solid order for will go to Swiss (LX, Zurich). The company has also been opportunistically expanding its B787-9 fleet by pursuing both unclaimed white-tails and used aircraft that carriers undergoing restructuring have returned.
