Woman, 75, is saved from the Pattaya fire

On May 11 at 8 o’clock, the Pattaya City Disaster Prevention Department was informed of a fire incident at the TG Battery Shop in South Pattaya’s Soi Bongkot.

On May 11, at 8 p.m., locals on Soi Bongkot, South Pattaya, discovered a roaring fire inside a 3-story commercial building and fled for their lives in a state of terror.

The TG Battery Shop was spewing thick smoke, making it challenging for the inhabitants to flee. Mrs. Somsong Prachumchuen, 75, and her caretaker were two of the stranded victims who were pleading for assistance with cries of desperation.The firefighters and rescue crews rapidly set up ladders so that the old woman could be safely carried down among the ferocious flames and thick smoke.

Five water trucks were deployed in the meanwhile to stop the fire from spreading to nearby structures. The flames had to be doused for more than 30 minutes. To ventilate the building, the firemen deployed smoke exhaust equipment.

The 50-year-old business owner, Mr. Chaiyot Prachumchuen, said that he had temporarily left his mother and housekeeper inside before returning. He hurried back to assess the situation after receiving a worried call from his mother about the fire. Fortunately, there were witnesses who responded quickly to save his mother.

He extended his appreciation to all parties involved.According to the police, there was extensive damage to goods, including batteries, with damages estimated at between 1-2 million baht. To identify the fire’s origin, the police forensic squad will conduct an investigation.
