More than 1,700 households’ homes in Thailand’s northeast have suffered damage as a result of Songkran’s strong winds.
Several northeastern provinces, including Amnat Charoen, Surin, Chaiyaphum, Sakon Nakhon, Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani, Roi-et, and Kalasin, were battered by storms with severe winds from April 15 to April 17, according to the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, or DDPM.
Around 1,700 families in more than 30 districts have been impacted by the storm because many of their homes were temporarily relocated and damaged.
The typhoon that hit Thailand on Sunday, April 16th, also had an impact on the country’s southern regions. Six people have been saved and at least four bodies have been discovered after numerous local fishing boats capsized in Nakhon Si Thammarat during recent severe storms.
When waves pounded a dock close to Samui Island, a ferry was hit, becoming partially submerged and destroyed.
