There were 6,904 new Covid-19 cases and 61 more fatalities recorded during the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry reported on Tuesday morning.
There were 6,646 cases in the general population and 258 among prison inmates.
The number of new cases fell from 7,592 announced on Monday, when the country recorded 39 more deaths.
On Monday, 8,024 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus.
Since April 1, when the third wave of Covid-19 began, Thailand has treated 1,953,632 Covid-19 patients, 1,838,061 of whom have recovered to date.
Since the pandemic started early last year, there have been 1,982,495 Covid-19 cases, with 1,865,487 complete recoveries so far.
The death toll stood at 19,670 during the third wave and 19,764 since the beginning of the pandemic.
The 61 latest fatalities were between the ages of 23 and 93 years and included one Myanmar national.ad
Bangkok recorded seven new deaths while a further seven were reported in the adjacent provinces of Samut Prakan (5), Pathum Thani (1) and Samut Sakhon (1).
Other central plain provinces further from the capital recorded six more deaths – in Saraburi (2), Prachin Buri (2), Sa Kaeo (1) and Prachuap Khiri Khan (1).
The Northeast had 10 fatalities – in Udon Thani (3), Si Sa Ket (2), Nakhon Ratchasima (1), Surin (1), Roi Et (1), Khon Kaen (1) and Maha Sarakham (1).
The South reported 18 more deaths – in Yala (4), Songkhla (4), Pattani (2), Satun (2), Chumphon (1), Nakhon Si Thammarat (1), Trang (1), Phuket (1), Phangnga (1) and Phatthalung (1).
The North saw 13 fatalities – in Nakhon Sawan (5), Chiang Rai (3), Chiang Mai (2), Phetchabun (2) and Tak (1).
The 6,904 new cases included 6,624 local infections and 22 imported cases. Of the local infections, 6,159 were confirmed at hospitals and 465 via mass testing.
Bangkok had 813 new cases, followed by 493 in Songkhla, 380 in Pattani, 373 in Chiang Mai, 328 in Sa Kaeo, 320 in Nakhon Si Thammarat, 222 in Narathiwat, 198 in Samut Prakan, 197 in Khon Kaen and 196 in Surat Thani.
The 22 imported cases were from Russia (1), Germany (2), Kazakhstan (3), the United Kingdom (2), the United Arab Emirates (2), Switzerland (1), Italy (1) France (1), Sri Lanka (1), Cambodia (2), Myanmar (5) and Malaysia (1).
On Monday 97,244 people received Covid-19 treatment at hospitals (down from 98,425), including 1,898 seriously ill patients (down from 1,997) and 417 dependent on ventilators (down from 441).
Global Covid-19 cases rose by 367,114 in 24 hours to 251.04 million. The worldwide death toll went up by 5,489 to 5.07 million.
The United States had the most cases at 47.44 million, up 50,809, and the most deaths at 776,397, up 452.
