THIS is the dramatic moment a heroic armed cop faces off with a gunman in a terrifying stand-off in front of bus passengers.
Officers raced to the scene just after 11am yesterday following a report of a man with what appeared to be a handgun.
West Yorkshire Police today confirmed that a 48-year-old man had been detained by a firearms officer using a taser in the Kirkstall area of the city.
The man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and remains in custody.
Cops said a gas-powered BB gun was recovered at the scene.
A photograph shows the man pointing what appears to be a handgun at a brave officer standing in front of a bus during the tense stand-off on a residential road.
Footage of the incident also appears to show the man being pinned to the floor by two officers.
Shouts of “stay down” and “drop it” are also heard in the clip – but it is unclear from whom.
It is not known what caused the incident.
