Man falls asleep

A drowsy driver fell asleep behind the wheel, 2 friends were terrified for their lives and jumped out of the vehicle while it was still moving. The driver was not injured as he was shielded by the truck when a crash took place. The local resuce team in Chiang Mai Province was notified on 1 August 2020 of a road accident. A 6-wheeler had crashed into barriers placed along a curve. The incident took place in Suan Son Bor Kaew Area, 108 Hot-Mae Sariang Road. There had been 2 injured persons. The team was informed to bring rescue equipment including a cutter and a push-pull ram.

Officials from the Sue Pa Rescue Team, Bo Luang Municipality, Om Koi Hospital, and police from the Bo Luang Police Station went to the location. Officials found a 6-wheeler with a Mae Hong Son License plate. The vehicle was damaged after crashing into the road barrier at a curve. The emergency team used the push-pull ram to help rescue the driver and was able to remove his body from the truck. The driver is Thanabadee Nantaborisut 26 years old. There were 2 passengers inside, friends of the driver.

They were on the way to Mae SaRiang District to pick up cows. When they were on the road Thanabadee had fallen asleep while driving and the truck almost ran into another vehicle on the road. The friends were scared for their lives and decided to jump off the vehicle while it was still moving. The driver continued sleeping and the 6-wheeler crashed into a barrier by the road. The driver was not injured as he was protected by the truck. The 2 friends are injured but are now safe at the Hod Hospital. Drowsy driving often occurs at late hours in the night and early hours of the morning. This is because our bodies are naturally tired during these times. Although drowsy driving also takes place at all hours due to lack of sleep. Another cause can come from sleep disorders that go unnoticed and medication side-effects.
