A man reportedly high on methamphetamine has been accused of stabbing his wife in the neck, who was sleeping with her child, before stabbing himself in Mueang Chonburi this morning.

Mueang Chonburi Police was notified of the incident at 1:30 AM this morning at a house in the Baan Suan sub-district.

Police and emergency responders arrived at the scene to find an injured woman, Ms. Siriluck Janyoi, who had sustained neck injuries from a stab wound.

She told police that her husband, 32 year old Wichai Bupphabalo, had taken lot of methamphetamine pills in the past few days. In Thailand, the pills are often called “yabba” or, crazy drug.

He was hallucinating and afraid that someone would kill him, Siriluck told Mueang Chonburi police. Ms. Siriluck was sleeping with their child when Wichai attacked her, stabbing her in the neck with a knife. She took her child and ran away before calling for help.

Wichai hid himself in the house with the knife when police arrived. It took more than an hour until he agreed to come out and surrender to Mueang Chonburi police.

Slash wounds were found on his chest as he self harmed while in hiding from police and hallucinating. He was taken to a local hospital for medical assistance. His wife, despite being stabbed in her neck, did not suffer significant damage and received medical assistance at the scene.
