DDPM recommends safe driving on flooded roads

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has recommended caution when driving on flooded roads to reduce the possibility of accidents and damage to personal property and injury.

DDPM Director General Chayaphol Thitisak, said that for safety reasons, motorists are advised to assess the depth and strength of floodwaters and have regard for the environment and hazards such as power poles, trees, and garbage bins.

It is recommended that motorists turn off the air-conditioner, reduce speed and use a low gear, refrain from speeding and reduce the frequency of braking.

Motorists are advised to keep more distance than normal from the vehicle ahead to prevent an accident if it happens to pull up suddenly.
