The madness that is Songkran has begun, roads have already seen severe congestion towards the north and northeast as families plan to gather in their home villages for the tiny New Year celebrations.
Motorways for the main part are set to be free of tolls but drivers are warned that police nationwide are on extra duty to cover roadblocks that will check motorists for drunk driving.
And it’s best to take extra care when travelling to the airports. They are predicting heavier numbers of travellers and all are advised to plan at least an hour extra in hand to avoid disappointment.
