Perfect 10 Out Of 10
Arsenal moved into third place with a comfortable 2-0 over Newcastle at The Emirates to continue their fine home form this season. Only Manchester City have won there in the first game of the season. That makes 10 home wins on the bounce and the first time that’s happened in one season at The Emirates.
Juventus Bound Aaron Ramsey
Aaron Ramsey, who the Arsenal fans won’t be seeing much off in the future as he heads to Juventus, scored the first on 30 minutes. He actually found the net in the 12th minute as he came in at the back post from a corner to finish. But referee Taylor disallowed it for pushing, pulling, and shoving in the box. Normal kind of corner stuff that goes unpunished so many times and another good reason for bringing in VAR next season.
The one that counted came when Ramsey flicked the ball through to Alexandre Lacazette in the box. Lacazette couldn’t control it and the ball bounced back to Ramsey as he continued his run into the box. Without altering his momentum he stroked the ball into the corner. Lacazette nearly made it two just before half time but Matt Ritchie headed his shot off the line.
Arsenal Dominant
Arsenal were dominate with as much as 70% of possession but they needed a second goal to kill off the game. That came in the 82nd minute from the man who loves scoring at The Emirates.
Outside the box Lacazette flicked the ball up to his strike partner Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Aubameyang headed towards the D of Newcastle’s penalty area and, as Newcastle defenders dithered, Lacazette nipped in and dinked the ball over the advancing Martin Dubravka.
