Myanmar maid arrested for alleged theft

A Myanmar woman was arrested on Monday for allegedly stealing Bt100,000 from her employer just three days after starting work as a maid at a Bangkok condominium.

Immigration Police chief Pol Lt-Gen Surachate Hakpal held a press conference at the bureau’s head office on Tuesday to announce the arrest of Nunsui Zinmar, 34.

Surachate said Nunsui was charged with stealing Bt100,000 from her employer on Sunday at a condominium on Sukhumvit Soi 16 in Klong Toey subdistrict, Vadhana district.

Surachate said her employer had filed a complaint that Nunsui had been hired as a maid at the condominium on Friday.

On Sunday, she sought permission to attend the funeral of her father-in-law and left urgently. After she left the condo, the employer found that cash amounting to Bt100,000 was missing.

Police found Nunsui hiding with her husband in a rented room on Soi Sri Buraphan 15 in Bangkok’s Bang Kapi district where she was arrested.

Police retrieved the cash from her.
