2 restaurant owners in Phang Nga Province have been arrested for breaking the emergency decree. Police Lieutenant Colonel Niwat Chamnankij from the Phang Nga Police Station, Administrative officials, and other related officials went to inspect restaurants and other businesses in Phang Nga Province.

Officials have received notifications from locals about businesses in the area breaking the emergency curfew and the province announcements on safety regulations against Covid-19 on 11 June 2020.

Officials inspected a restaurant in the main city of Krabi Province and found 3 receipts for alcoholic drinks specifically Leo Beer. The owner was arrested on the spot and charged with violation of the province safety regulations announcement on 31 May 2020 no. 1530/2563 and the Communicable Diseases Act B.E.2558 (2015) by allowing customers to drink alcohol inside the restaurant. Officials then inspected a restaurant on the Petchkasem Road in Phang Nga and found a jug of beer and a glass of whiskey.

The owner was taken to the police station where they were charged. Both restaurants are in violation of the province safety regulations announcement on 31 May 2020 no. 1530/2563.

This is the 3rd announcement of the province on the Covid-19 situation that laid out rules for businesses and the people to follow intended to minimize the spread of the virus. Both restaurants have also violated section 34 and 53 of the Communicable Diseases Act B.E.2558 (2015) by allowing customers to drink alcohol inside the restaurant.

The Covid-19 Phase 4 lockdown takes place on the 15th of this month as the curfew is now canceled. The Thai Police are preparing for officers to return working as in normal circumstances before the virus situation.

There will still be road checkpoints to protect against crimes mainly against drinking and driving. There will be less Covid-19 checkpoints while more officers are ordered to inspect different areas during the night.
