12,000 Runners getting ready for the Pattaya marathon

As the eagerly awaited 30th Pattaya Marathon approached, Deputy Mayor Kritsana Boonsawat took the initiative by calling a meeting at city hall on July 3 to discuss and decide on security protocols for the forthcoming event. The marathon, which is slated for July 22 and 23, is anticipated to bring thousands of participants and spectators from across the world.

The Pattaya City government has gathered a workforce of more than 474 individuals from the local law enforcement agencies, volunteers, charitable organizations, and the Sawang Boriboon Foundation rescue and medical units to provide the highest convenience and public safety throughout the marathon.

The Pattaya Marathon in 2023 will have consolidated running routes, and the meeting’s main goals were to complete the event administration structure. The necessary staff members were given responsibilities to ensure the event’s smooth implementation.

On both days of the competition, traffic will be temporarily shut down from midnight until 10:30 a.m. due to the marathon. Four classifications will be offered for the Pattaya Marathon, giving participants a variety of possibilities. The 42.195-kilometer Full Marathon for Men and Women has already attracted all 2,000 registered competitors, covering an incredible distance. 1,200 people are expected to register for the 21.1-kilometer Half Marathon for Men and Women. 3,800 runners have enrolled for the 10.550-kilometer Mini Marathon, while participants of all ages and fitness levels are welcome to participate in the 5 km Fun Run category.

There will be 12,000 athletes participating in the marathon overall. All of the races’ beginning and ending points will be at the Terminal 21 Shopping Mall in north Pattaya. The two-day competition is expected to produce a circulation of 120 million baht, which will have a significant economic impact.
