Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), the nation’s flag carrier, has acknowledged placing an order with Airbus for 12 A320neo aircraft.
Executives signed the agreement between the two aircraft firms on April 6, 2023, in Baku.
The 14 Airbus aircraft that are now in the fleet will be joined by the A320neo and A321neo airplanes that AZAL has ordered.
Four A319CEOs, six A320CEOs, two A340s, and three new-generation A320NEO aircraft have been added to this list since the year’s beginning.
The airline will select the engines, according to AZAL, who confirmed this.
“We are happy to continue our mutually advantageous cooperation with Airbus on our fleet modernisation initiative and want to strengthen our bilateral partnership,” said Samir Rzayev, the first vice-president of AZAL CJSC. By virtue of the agreement, we will be able to offer the most up-to-date and pleasant narrow-body aircraft to our passengers.
By flying more up-to-date, reasonably priced aircraft, AZAL expects the new planes will help the airline become more efficient and competitive.
The airline intends to expand its domestic and international route network by using the effective A320neo family aircraft.
According to Christian Scherer, chief commercial officer of Airbus and director of the company’s international division, this order marks a significant turning point in the two companies’ fruitful partnership.
Announcing the arrival of its first Airbus A321neo aircraft on March 29, 2023, Hong Kong-based low-cost carrier HK Express did so.
For HK Express, a part of the Cathay Pacific Group, it represents the first of 16 A321neo aircraft being delivered. Over the next two years, deliveries of the remaining aircraft will be made.
With more than 8,700 orders from 135 customers, the A320neo series of aircraft is the most popular in the world.
