Young Cambodian Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Crash with Parked 18-Wheeler in Banglamung
Accident Details
A 21-year-old Cambodian motorcyclist sustained serious injuries after crashing into the back of a parked 18-wheeler on Sukhumvit Road in Banglamung early this morning.
Emergency Response
At 2:06 AM on March 23rd, the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Center received a report of a motorcycle accident near the Krating Lai Bridge, inbound to Bangkok in Chonburi province. Rescue volunteers and a medical team were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Scene of the Accident
Upon arrival, emergency responders found a large crowd gathered at the site. A black Honda Wave 110 motorcycle had collided with the rear of an 18-wheeler. Rescuers discovered the injured rider, identified as Mr. Reaksmey Chek, a 21-year-old Cambodian national, trapped beneath the rear section of the truck.
Injuries and Medical Assistance
Mr. Reaksmey was conscious but unable to free himself. It took approximately 10 minutes for rescue workers to safely extract him. He suffered a laceration on his right leg and complained of pain in his hip and chest. After receiving first aid at the scene, he was urgently transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
Truck Driver’s Statement
Mr. Tara, the 51-year-old driver of the 18-wheeler, stated that he had pulled over to the roadside to rest for a few minutes when he suddenly felt an impact at the rear of his truck. Upon checking, he found the motorcycle and the injured rider wedged against the back of his vehicle. He immediately contacted emergency services for assistance.
