Wigan Warriors Defeat Castleford Tigers 36-14 to Stay Competitive in Super League
Wigan Warriors maintained their position near the top of the Super League with a convincing 36-14 victory over Castleford Tigers.
Liam Marshall and Ryan Hampshire both scored braces for Wigan, while Bevan French and Abbas Miski also crossed the try line. Despite a spirited effort from Castleford, who saw Louis Senior and Rowan Milnes score, they couldn’t match Wigan’s dominance.
French opened the scoring early on, but Castleford quickly responded with Senior’s debut try. Marshall and Hampshire then took control, scoring crucial tries to secure Wigan’s sixth league win of the season.
After the match, Wigan head coach Matt Peet commented on the team’s performance, acknowledging the effort but emphasizing the need for improved cohesion.
Castleford’s head coach Craig Lingard praised his team’s competitiveness, especially in the first half, despite facing late changes and being “down to the bare bones.”
Wigan’s victory keeps them in contention at the top of the Super League, closely trailing leaders St Helens. Castleford, meanwhile, will look to bounce back from this defeat in their upcoming matches.
