After he risked his life to return to Thailand 15 years ago, a wanted New Zealander was apprehended at Phuket International Airport.
On Thursday, October 26, the Phuket Immigration Department made additional case details public. Subsequently, the suspect was identified as Mr. Freeman, a 40-year-old New Zealander. He traveled from Singapore to Phuket International Airport and landed in the international terminal.
Around 2008, or fifteen years ago, the Pattaya Provincial Court granted Freeman bail, and he was thereafter briefly freed. He was prohibited from leaving the nation by the court order. He was charged with possessing Class 1 narcotics illegally.
Phuket Immigration stated that Freeman is thought to have left in or around 2008 after breaking into the nation illegally over a natural land border because there is no indication in the biometric system indicating he did so.
Freeman reportedly assumed that since the incident had occurred so long ago, he could return with a new passport and not be barred entrance. Nevertheless, Phuket Immigration detained him for the previous offenses as well as for ostensibly leaving the country while on bail.
