WALLACE LEADS AS FAIRWAY JESUS LURKS ONE BACK

Jumeirah Estates resident, Tommy Fleetwood, affectionately nicknamed ‘Fairway Jesus’ due to his flowing locks and beard, is favourite going into the last round on Sunday after a mixed day that included 6 birdies, one eagle, one penalty shot and two dropped shots to card 66.

Coming out the traps hot, Fleetwood birdied the first 2 holes, as did playing partner Viktor Hovland. Fan favourite Fleetwood then birdied three on the spin on holes 5, 6 and 7 before dropping a shot on 12. On 14 Tommy holed his longest putt of the day from 58 feet, following up a couple holes later with a birdie on 16.

Story of the day has to be that of Matt Wallace, aka the birdie machine who had 12 in total and reeled off 9 in a row to finish off in style, narrowly missing out on a 59 as his bunker shot on 18 narrowly slipped past the hole.

Hovland had an error-free round containing six birdies and carded a 66 (-6) alongside Fleetwood on -15, one back from Wallace.

One must not discount overnight leader, long hitting Dane Nocolai Hojaard who made a mess of his second shot on the final hole, finding the water and settling for a 2 under round of 70 to sit four back from Wallace and three behind Fleetwood and Hovland.

In 4th place alone is fellow Dane, Jeff Winther who had an excellent round of 64, highlight being holing out from 143 yards for eagle on 11 and also signed off with another eagle on the par 5, 18th.

All to play for tomorrow in what is sure to be an exciting day.
