In the early hours of Saturday morning, a distressing incident unfolded on Motorway 7 in the Nong Pla Lai sub-district of Banglamung, as a six-wheel ice truck collided with a stationary ten-wheel truck.
The collision resulted in injuries to the driver of the moving vehicle, who required extrication from the wreckage by rescue personnel.
At around 4:36 A.M., the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Team received an urgent call and promptly dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the six-wheel truck lodged into the rear of the ten-wheel truck. The driver of the six-wheeler, identified as 28-year-old Mr. Thanawut Sangsaior, was trapped inside his vehicle’s cab. Utilizing hydraulic cutters, rescue workers successfully freed Mr. Sangsaior, who had sustained leg injuries. He admitted to falling asleep at the wheel, leading to the unfortunate crash. Mr. Sangsaior was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
The driver of the ten-wheel truck, Mr. Anuwat Gonkanplu, aged 27, explained that he had pulled over to the roadside for a brief stop when the collision occurred. His truck’s rear bore the brunt of the impact.
Authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. The local traffic division supervised the cleanup and removal of the involved vehicles to restore normal traffic flow on the motorway.
