Families of the victims from the tragic school bus fire have sought psychological support at the Police General Hospital.
According to Pol Lt Gen Dr. Thaweesilp Vejvitarn, the hospital’s Surgeon General, ten families have reached out to the hospital’s psychologists for help in coping with the grief of losing their loved ones.
The doctor’s statement came a day after a devastating fire engulfed a coach carrying 20 students and three teachers from a school in Uthai Thani’s Lan Sak district. They were on a field trip to Nonthaburi province when the fatal accident occurred.
Forensic investigators are working to match the victims’ DNA with samples provided by their families, as many of the bodies are unidentifiable.
Assistant Police Commissioner General Kornchai Klaiklueng announced that DNA identification for all 23 victims is expected to be completed today, after which the remains will be returned to their hometowns.
Outside the forensic department, families of the victims are awaiting their turn to reclaim the remains of their loved ones.
By 3 p.m., all but one of the victims had been identified. Convoys carrying 22 bodies began departing for Uthai Thani, with uniformed police officers, doctors, and nurses lining up to bid a somber farewell to the young victims.
