Tragedy struck near Pattaya when a van driver lost his life in a fatal accident. The incident occurred when the driver reportedly fell asleep at the wheel and collided with a highway truck. Banglamung Police Station received reports of the accident around 1:30 PM, prompting a swift response from law enforcement and rescue teams to the scene located on an overpass in the Nong Manao area of Banglamung sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province.
Upon arrival, responders found a grey Toyota van severely damaged after crashing into a six-wheel truck. Tragically, inside the van, they discovered the lifeless body of 39-year-old Mr. Suthiphon Ketmak, who had succumbed to fatal injuries, including a broken neck and a broken right eyebrow. Despite rescue efforts, Mr. Suthiphon was found deceased in the driver’s seat, requiring the use of cutting equipment to extract his body from the vehicle.
Mr. Sopon Chokprasopsert, 30, the driver of the six-wheel truck, recounted to police that he was driving behind a road sweeper on the overpass with his emergency lights activated when the van unexpectedly collided with the back of his truck. Promptly, Mr. Sopon alerted the authorities about the tragic incident.
Authorities initially suspected that the van driver had fallen asleep while driving. As part of their investigation, they brought in the truck driver and witnesses for further questioning at the police station. Meanwhile, the body of Mr. Suthiphon was transferred to Banglamung Hospital for relatives to claim for religious ceremonies.
