Three men have been arrested in Yasothon province on charges of luring a 16-year-old girl into selling herself for sex, via Twitter, and reaping profits from it.
Police from the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division arrested the three suspects separately in Maha Chana Chai and Kham Khuen Kaeo districts of the northeastern province on Wednesday, Pol Maj Gen Wiwat Khamchamnarn, division commander, said on Thursday.
He identified the trio only as Rinrada, 27, Thanongsak, 32, and Parinya, 33.
Mr Rinrada and Mr Thanongsak were wanted on arrest warrants issued by the Criminal Court on Jan 24 for alleged collusion in human trafficking by reaping profit from a girl aged over 15 but below 18 who was paid for sex.
Mr Parinya was wanted on an arrest warrant issued by the Criminal Court on Jan 24 for depriving a girl aged over 15 but below 18 of her freedom.
Pol Maj Gen Wiwat said the arrests came after police arrested another suspect for procuring a 16-year-old girl for the flesh trade.
The extended investigation led to the arrest of the other three.
Mr Thanongsak and Mr Rinrada allegedly contacted the girl via Twitter and later took her to have sex with Mr Parinya in Yasothon province for 1,200-1,500 baht each time. The duo allegedly took a cut and gave the girl 800-1,000 baht.
According to investigators, the girl also had many other customers they arranged for her.
