Two Navy Pilots Eject After Friendly Fire Incident Over Red Sea

Two U.S. Navy pilots ejected safely from their F/A-18 fighter jet over the Red Sea early Sunday after their aircraft was mistakenly shot down in what military officials are describing as “an apparent case of friendly fire.”

According to a news release from U.S. Central Command, one of the pilots sustained minor injuries from the incident.

The guided-missile cruiser USS Gettysburg, part of the USS Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group, inadvertently fired upon the aircraft, which was operating off the USS Harry S. Truman. Central Command has announced that a thorough investigation is underway.
