In a dedicated effort to enhance water safety, the Pattaya Tourist Police, in partnership with the Water Transport Inspection Unit, Regional Harbor Office 6 (Pattaya Branch), and the Chonburi Marine Disaster Prevention Division, carried out a thorough inspection of water traffic safety over the past weekend. This initiative is part of the “Pattaya Model,” a strategic plan aimed at improving water safety.
The inspection was led by Pol. Lt. Col. Piyapong Ensan, Senior Inspector of Tourist Police Division 4, Division 2, Tourist Police Bureau 1, alongside Pol. Lt. Col. Suphaphan Mipricha and Pol. Lt. Col. Aphichat Charurak. The team, which included duty officers and patrol units, used tourist police patrol boats to ensure comprehensive coverage.
Inspection Details:
- Location: Bali Hai Pier
- Boats Inspected: 11
The following aspects were examined:
- Certificates of the ship’s operators
- Seaworthiness of the ships
- Noise levels of the ship engines
- Ship documents
- Safety equipment on board
The inspection found no violations among the eleven boats checked. Additionally, the Tourist Police distributed Pattaya City Order No. 3063/2567, which reminds all ship operators to comply with regulations regarding the Pattaya City pier area. This includes a prohibition on overnight or long-term parking of ships at the pier without proper authorization.
During the inspection, two Cambodian nationals, Mr. Poy Neang (30) and Mr. Koo Sann (34), were found aboard a ship without the necessary visa and work documentation. They were arrested and taken to the Pattaya City Police Station for legal action on charges of residing in Thailand without permission.
