There were 5,947 new Covid-19 cases and 62 more fatalities recorded during the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry announced on Tuesday morning.
There were 5,894 cases in the general population and 53 among prison inmates.
The number of new cases fell from 6,343 announced on Monday, when the country recorded 45 more deaths.
On Monday, 7,943 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus.
Since April 1, when the third wave of Covid-19 began, Thailand has treated 2,001,837 Covid-19 patients, 1,891,026 of whom have recovered to date.
Since the pandemic started early last year, there have been 2,030,700 Covid-19 cases, with 1,918,452 complete recoveries so far.
The death toll stood at 20,049 during the third wave and 20,143 since the beginning of the pandemic.
The 62 latest fatalities were aged 27 to 92 years and included two Myanmar nationals.
Bangkok recorded six new deaths while a further three were reported in the adjacent province of Samut Prakan.
Other central plain provinces further from the capital recorded 17 more deaths – in Suphan Buri (2), Chachoengsao (1), Ratchaburi (6), Kanchanaburi (2), Rayong (2), Chanthaburi (1), Trat (1), Prachin Buri (1) and Sa Kaeo (1).
The Northeast had six fatalities – in Khon Kaen (3), Nakhon Ratchasima (2) and Maha Sarakham (2).
The South reported 20 more deaths – in Surat Thani (3), Nakhon Si Thammarat (1), Phuket (1), Songkhla (5), Pattani (3), Satun (1), Yala (4), Narathiwat (1) and Trang (1).
The North saw 10 fatalities – in Chiang Mai (4), Chiang Rai (1), Phetchabun (2), Phichit (2) and Kamphaeng Phet (1).
The 5,947 new cases included 5,883 local infections and 11 imported cases. Of the local infections, 5,662 were confirmed at hospitals and 221 via mass testing.
Bangkok had 854 new cases, followed by 458 in Songkhla, 349 in Chiang Mai, 323 in Pattani, 260 in Nakhon Si Thammarat, 205 in Narathiwat, 189 in Surat Thani, 165 in Samut Prakan and 162 each in Chon Buri and Trang.
The 11 imported cases were from the Netherlands (1), the United States (3), France (1), the United Kingdom (1), Saudi Arabia (2), Myanmar (2) and Cambodia (1).
On Monday 92,105 people received Covid-19 treatment at hospitals (down from 94,163), including 1,775 seriously ill patients (down from 1,776) and 411 dependent on ventilators (down from 417).
Since the country reopened to visitors on Nov 1, 54,939 people had arrived by air and 65 of them (0.12%) were confirmed with Covid-19, as of midnight.
Global Covid-19 cases rose by 406,235 in 24 hours to 254.55 million. The worldwide death toll went up by 5,315 to 5.12 million.
The US had the most cases at 48.07 million, up 70,823, and the most deaths at 784,779, up 467.
