Thai Woman Detained with More Than 10 Million Baht Worth of Cocaine

Thai Customs reports that a woman was detained with more than two kilograms of cocaine worth more than ten million baht at Phuket International Airport.

Ms. Sukanya Wettayanukun, the Director of Thai Customs at Phuket International Airport, said the Phuket Express that on Wednesday (April 5th), they received a tip-off from a worried citizen that illicit substances would be transported into Thailand via a particular airline.

A bag that belonged to a 27-year-old Thai lady was checked by customs officials. The 2.35 kilogram bag of cocaine that was discovered by the police has a street value of more than 10 million baht.

The woman was brought to Sakoo Police Station to begin legal proceedings. Nevertheless, authorities did not release her entire name to the media, and it was not immediately obvious what her plea was.

Customs officials also withheld the identity of the nation the woman had come from before entering Thailand, only revealing that she is a Thai national. The Phuket International Airport has lately discovered cocaine on other occasions. A woman from Uzbekistan was discovered in January with more than 2 kg of cocaine, as we previously reported here.
