The Royal Thai Armed Forces has launched a space operations centre as a focal point for planned investment and technology advancement in military-space capabilities.
The new centre, inaugurated on 17 August in Bangkok, will prepare the Thai military for “increasing threats from space in the future” and is consistent with an intention outlined in the country’s national development programme, the staterun National News Bureau of Thailand (NNT) said.
According to NNT, the facility will allow for military advancements in areas including satellite communications, data collection and interpretation, surveillance and monitoring, and satellite maintenance.
The new centre is in line with Thailand’s National Strategy, a 20-year development programme introduced by the government in late 2018.
