‘Spider-Man 4’ Release Pushed to July 2026
Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4 will take a bit longer to swing into theaters, as Sony Pictures has announced a slight delay in its release.
The untitled sequel is now set to hit theaters on July 31, 2026, a one-week delay from its previously scheduled date. Destin Daniel Cretton, known for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, is set to direct.
Avoiding a Clash with Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’
The change allows Spider-Man 4 to maintain some breathing room from Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey”, which stars Holland and is scheduled for July 17, 2026. The epic adaptation boasts a star-studded cast, including Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, and Charlize Theron.
Also set for release on July 31, 2026, is Paramount’s animated family film Paw Patrol 3, making for a competitive box office weekend.
Holland’s Return as Spider-Man
Tom Holland last donned the Spidey suit in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, a massive box office hit that grossed $1.9 billion worldwide. The film was directed by Jon Watts, who also helmed Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019).
Writers Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna are back to pen the new installment, having previously worked on No Way Home.
