Policed raided five locations in Bangkok’s Bang Khun Thian district and arrested six suspects on Thursday night for allegedly taking sports bets for online betting bosses.
Pol Maj-General Phanurat Lakboon led the Metropolitan Police Bureau and policemen from the Tha Kham police station in the raid. The searches followed court warrants targeting three houses and a rented apartment room in Tha Kham subdistrict and an apartment room in Samae Dam subdistrict. Phanurat said four men and two women were arrested and police seized six notebook computers, 40 mobile phones and 30 bank accounts.
Phanurat said the arrested were lower-ranked employees of online betting bosses. They took bets for 47 online football betting websites abroad. He alleged that about Bt70 million had been taken in by these betting networks since December. BP- EP
